

Jimmie Gandy, 74, of Katy, Texas, passed away on February 22nd, 2024. He was born in Houston, Texas on June 16th, 1949. Jim graduated from Reagan High School. Jim's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his country, having bravely served during the Vietnam War and earning the prestigious Purple Heart award for his valor. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carla, for 27 wonderful years, and his love extended to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren along with the many dogs he cared for over the years, who held a special place in his heart. In addition to his military service and family life, Jim found joy in his passions for hunting and fishing. After working in the grocery industry for several years, he transitioned to a fulfilling career with the United States Postal Service, where he dedicated 20 years of service before retiring.
He is predeceased by his parents Dewey and Julia Gandy.
Jim was survived by his children son Marcus Gandy and his wife Geneva Gandy, step children Heath Mahaffey and his wife Crystal Mahaffey, April Mahaffey Herman and Husband Michael. His grandchildren Brooks, Bennett and Blaire Gandy, Daniel Mahaffey, Michael Mahaffey, Alexis Mahaffey, Luke Mahaffey, Ashlynn Mahaffey and Liam Mahaffey, Taylor Eley, Madison Boling and Summer Herman. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren Kasen Eley, Ford Eley and Banks Eley and his sister Patricia Peckham and her children Ali Peckham, Stacie Perez and Cassie Debree. The Pallbearers will be Marcus Gandy, Brooks Gandy, Hayne Hermes, Heath Mahaffey, Scott Marshall and Dana Bain. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Stacie Perez, Alison Peckham, Robin Hermes and Taylor Eley.
A visitation for Jimmie will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
