

John was born to Juan Garcia Gutierrez and Esther Romo on September 2, 1948 in Houston, TX. He graduated from Furr High School in 1969 and received an Associates Degree from Houston Community College in 1974. He married Rose M. Gutierrez in 1976, and they lived together in Houston, TX. Together they raised three handsome sons.
He is survived by: John Manuel Gutierrez and his spouse Liliana Gutierrez, Andrew Albert Gutierrez and his spouse Kimberly Aguilar, Eric Allan Gutierrez and his spouse Hannah Gutierrez. He also leaves to cherish his memory his siblings: Ofelia “Pinkey” Trevino, Evangelina E. “Lina” Gonzalez-Gutierrez, Helen Gutierrez, and Rufus Gutierrez; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his beautiful grandchildren: Michael Castillo, Gabrielle Gutierrez, Briana Gutierrez, Johnathan Gutierrez, Andrea Gutierrez, John Anthony Gutierrez, and Isabelle Gutierrez.
He was preceded in death by Juan Garcia Gutierrez (father), Esther Romo (mother), Alberto Romo-Gutierrez (brother), and Christina Reyes (sister).
John worked as a boilermaker and machinist for the Southern Pacific Railroad for over 20 years and then was a machinist for National Flame & Forge, Inc. for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horseback riding, trips to the casino, and spending time with family. He was also an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, March 13, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, . A committal service will occur Thursday, March 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
