John Wayne Hood, 69, of Livingston, Texas, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2026, in Boyd, Texas. A beloved soul who touched many lives, John will be remembered with deep respect and enduring gratitude by all who knew him.
Graveside Service will be held at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060, US, on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
Born April 6, 1956, in Houston, Texas, John was the son of Benny Hood and Valerie Jean Williams. He was raised mostly by his grandparents, James “Jimmy” and Modena Williams, whose influence helped shape the man so many came to know and admire.
After his introduction, he was “Superman” to his boys—a devoted father who found joy in rebuilding engines with Steve and Paul. He also treasured time with his grandchildren, especially horseback riding together. Known to many as “Jet Boat Johnny,” he loved being on the water racing jet boats. John worked for many years as a truck driver for a few different companies, and he carried that same steady, dependable spirit into every part of life. A devoted father and friend, he never met a stranger.
John was blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and he delighted in spending time with them and spoiling them beyond measure. He made sure they always knew they were loved, often saying, “Paw-Paw Love’s You” every chance he got.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, James “Jimmy” and Modena Williams; his parents, Benny Hood and Valerie Jean Williams; his aunt Sharon Williams Stanford; and his brother David Hood.
He is survived by his beloved son, Steven Hood and wife Jessica, of Boyd, Texas; his son Paul Hood of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Wyatt, Addie, Macee, Alyssa, Katelyn, and Lori; great-grandchildren Jaden and Angel; sisters Lavaughn Hood-Thompson, Sherry Lowe, Brena Valles, and Mary Bright; brother Jose “Joey” Guero Valles; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and hundreds of friends across the states.
