On a wonderful winter day, Mr. John Kindle Sr. and Mrs. Bessie L. Johnson-Kindle of Houston, Texas welcomed their son John Kindle Jr. into the world. He was the 5th child of seven siblings; Frederick Douglas Johnson Sr., James Virgil Kindle, Abbie Lee Kindle- Wilson, Dorothy Ola Kindle-Jones, Roland Kindle, and Tommy Jean Kindle, all of which preceded him in death. In February 1966, he met his beloved wife Sallie Mae Barber-Kindle and they were united in holy matrimony eight months later on October 12th. John had two children prior to his marriage to Sallie; Barbara Ann and Patrick. Together they helped raise Barbara before having two children of their own; Darryl Eugene and Jennifer Nicole. John and Sallie were blessed to spend 35 memorable years together before her death in 2001. John attended Wheatley High School and later served in the United States Army where he was primarily stationed in Germany. After returning home, he went on to work for "The Houston POST" (newspaper), elevating his accomplishments and success to District Manager. After more than 30 years of dedicated service, he retired at the dissolution of the company. Throughout his life he followed his passion for building, electrical and plumbing work. He could repair just about anything and made sure he mentored others as they developed these skills. He designed and built numerous structures, but focused largely on home renovations and repairs. Always the free spirited entrepreneur, he was known for giving to others and lending a helping hand whenever he could. John built his home and successfully designed, constructed and managed his booming "KINDLE’s Restaurant & Club" in the 70’s. Through this business, he was able to employ many people in the community including family and friends and provided first time job opportunities to several youth. One of his favorite sayings was "Good morning this morning! If every morning was a good morning, we’d have a good morning every morning." He leaves to cherish his memory: two daughters, Barbara Ann Kindle-Scott (Tamba) and Jennifer Kindle and one Son Patrick Kindle-Gaines (Zizett). Grandchildren: Sheronda, George (Mann), Jesse, Erica, Rosa, Patrick Jr., Zenobia and Dominik. Great Grandchildren: Alicia, Damion, Zerric, Kiara, Tiara, Zachary and Jesse Jr. Great-Great Grandchildren: Amari and Aiden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
