John Lawrence

John Lawrence was born August 22, 1949 in Lafayette, LA to the union of Joseph and Mary Lawrence. He is the fourth of nine children. He is preceded in death by his father (Joseph Lawrence, Sr.) and brother (Joseph Lawrence, Jr.). John was baptized September 3, 1949 at Assumption Church in Carencro, LA. He was a devout Catholic and attended St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. John graduated from St. Peter Claver High School in 1968. He later enlisted into the Navy from 1969-1972, where he received a National Defense Service Medal as a Lead Dental Technician III. After receiving honorable discharge, he attended Houston Community College where he obtained a certification as an X-ray Technician. He worked at Ben Taub General Hospital and later became an Independent Carpenter. John leaves to cherish his memory his son, Joshua Lawrence, Sr. (Ieeshia); his loving mother Mary Lawrence; seven siblings, Stella Griffin (Wilford), Betty Edmond (Bobby), Christopher Lawrence, Paula Walker, Ralph Lawrence, Karl Lawrence (Sharon), and Jessica Turner; 2 grandchildren Joshua Lawrence, Jr. and Isaiah Lawrence; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.
