John E. Manzullo, Jr., passed away peacefully on September 15, 2013 at the age of 81 years. John was born in New York City and spent his childhood years in New York and attended the Academy of Aeronautics graduating in 1951. After graduation and military service in the U.S. Navy he worked as an engineer for 10 years. In 1966, he moved his family to Fort Worth, TX and continued his engineering career until his love for education led him to teach woodworking at Trimble Technical High School until his retirement 20 years later.
During retirement he enjoyed designing and building furniture, boat building, gardening, and cooking. He and his family enjoyed going on many cruises and traveling in the United States and Europe.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Esther Manzullo; brother, Joseph Manzullo and brother-in-law, Leo Citrola. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edith Manzullo and his daughter, Dr. Ellen Manzullo; sister, Esther Citrola; nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Frank Fossella and the many wonderful staff members at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for their excellent medical care.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery with a memorial mass that evening at 6:00 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in his honor to the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210.
