

John Philip Rosenberger, known to his family and friends as “Jack “passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Jack was born on February 7, 1927 in Houston, Texas at 4900 N. Main Street. He was brought in to this world by Lydia and Roy Rosenberger. Jack grew up with one sister, Joyce Clapp, who preceded him in death.
During his younger years the family traveled around and lived several places including Asheville, North Carolina and Los Angeles, California. Jack’s father had a passion for flying and while in Los Angeles he purchased a plane that the family of four hauled back to Houston, Texas. Later in life, when Jack was married with his own family, he would also build a plane in the family garage. He ultimately sold this plane to gather the money to start his own mechanical contracting business, The Rosenberger Company in 1953 a commercial plumbing and utility company that served Houston and surrounding area business’s and school districts for over 55 years. The House and The London Pub restaurant & pub, frequented by many friends, both located in Southeast Houston area where he grew up.
Jack was a past member of the Plumbers &Pipe Fitters Union Local 68, Mechanical contractor Association of Houston (served on the labor relations committee), associate member of the Association of General Contractors of Houston, member of the United-German American Committee and a longtime member of Golf Crest Country Club, where he met many of his most faithful friends that enriched his life.
During World War II, Jack joined the Marines and faithfully served his country for the duration of the war. He was approached to continue his service and go to Officer’s Training School, but chose to go home and continue building his business. During the end of his service, he married his sweetheart and love of his life, LaVerne, and they were together for over 50 years until her death in 2001. Jack and LaVerne had two children Debbie and Gary. Debbie is married to Alan Raynor and they have two children, Brett and Molly. Brett and his wife Liza have two children, Hadleigh Ruth and Julia “Rose”, Molly is married to Grant Carson. Gary has three children Amy Moran, Chris and Ben Rosenberger. Amy and Donald Moran have three children Elijah, Maranatha and Magdalena and a fourth on the way. Chris and Ryannon Rosenberger have four children, Gabriel, Isabelle, Dorothy and Evangeline and another on the way. Ben and Shelly are expecting their first child soon.
Besides being blessed with a very successful business and a loving family, Jack, also had many other talents. He was an accomplished and talented artist. He created detailed oil paintings most commemorating the major events in his life. Some were comical and some were serious. But most were of special people and events that were important and memorable in his life. He leaves an entire collection that will be treasured by his family for generations.
Jack was also a tinkerer and amazing gardener. Throughout his garden, Jack’s bigger than life personality showed through. His garden brought peace and relaxation to all who visited him. It was the envy of the neighbors as they passed by during their golf games. They would always give Jack a shout out or a friendly wave.
Jack is also survived by his loving fiance’ of 15 years, Martha Jo Foster of Pearland. The last fifteen years of Jack’s life were spent in the loving company of his cherished fiance’. They traveled the world together with family and friends to the far corners of the earth. They went of African safaris, river cruises, ocean cruises and exciting bucket list trips. Jack and Martha were adored and respected by both Martha and Jack’s families and were included as a committed couple in all family events. Jack is also survived and treasured by Martha’s daughters Terri and her husband Greg Hurley and Kaye and her husband Marcus as well as Martha’s numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He will be missed and he was indeed a blessed man.
Services for Jack will be held at Sagemont Baptist Church .
Following the Memorial Service there will be a reception at Golfcrest Country Club.
