

Josefina was born to Seferino Aguilar and Gertrude Bautista, December 13, 1943, in Brownsville, Texas. She had four siblings: Margaret Benavides, Lydia Walden, Philip Aguilar and Alice Colunga.
She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1962. She married Tony “Louis” Mendoza in 1966, and they lived in Houston, Texas. Together they had three children; Lynette Mendoza, Pamela Morales and Tony Mendoza. Later in life while single (widowed) and raising three children, she received an Associates Degree from the University of Houston.
She is survived by Lynette Mendoza, Pamela Morales (Angel Morales). She also leaves to cherish her memory one granddaughter; Sarah Rodriguez. Very close Aunt Yolanda Benavides and Uncle Richard “Catcho” Bautista and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by Tony Mendoza (husband), Tony L. Mendoza (son), Gertrude Bautista (mother), Seferino Aguilar (father), Margaret Benavides (sister) and Alice Colunga (sister).
Josefina worked for the United Postal Service and retired after 30+ years. After retiring, she spend most of her evenings binge watching mystery shows and foreign movies. She loved her pets dearly. She enjoyed shoe shopping, being with family and most of all gardening. She was involved in different organizations involving Geneaology. She also stayed busy going to exercise classes and participating in activities with the YMCA.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 14th, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am at the Colonial Chapel at Forest Park Lawndale. A service will be held at 2:00pm with a burial at 3:00pm.
