Joseph Raymond Griffin, Sr.

Joseph Raymond Griffin, Sr., better known as (J.R.) was born on August 4, 1952 to the late Vanderburg Griffin and Esther Marie Thompson in Corpus Christi, Texas. J.R. accepted Christ at an early age under the late Pastor Rev. Harold T. Branch.J.R. was a proud graduate of Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi, Texas. Following graduation J.R. joined the United States Army where he served faithfully until his honorable discharge. After leaving the military, he was employed by Harris County Sheriff's Department where he worked until his retirement. After being retired for a few months, he started working for Brookshire Police Department and Katy High School Police Security Department to keep himself occupied. J.R. always felt that his gift from God was in protecting others, so he found pleasure in sharing his God-given talent of providing security.During his life journey, Joseph met, fell in love and married Melanie Moore.J.R. believed in being a protector and mentor for his family and friends. He was faithful to God in service no matter where he was. J.R. had a love for children, always trying to help them to stay on a good path. His Harris County career started out as just a job, but the love for working with kids lead him, along with his loving and devoted wife Melanie, to become foster parents.J.R. was a very active and devoted family man. His hobbies included listening to the Blues, being a mentor, enjoying good food and traveling.
