Josephine S. Martinez, age 90, passed away on December 23, 2014. She was born in Orange, TX on October 23, 1924 to Jesus Salazar and Angelita Alvarado. Josephine was baptized at St. Mary Catholic Church. She was married to Alfonso D. Martinez at the age of 18. Josephine and Alfonso had 5 children; Alfonso S. Martinez, Roy S. Martinez, Abel S. Martinez, Mary Christine Perales, and M. Carmen Martinez, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, additional family and friends.. Josephine stated, "I had a happy long life. I always accepted Gods will and kept going until he called me. Thank you Sacred Heart of Jesus. I love you my blessed Mother the Immaculate Heart of Mary and all the Angels and Saints for guiding me home. Thank you Sacred Heart for helping me to live this wonderful life. To my children, pray for me and Thank You for making me happy and for helping me out when I needed you. I love you all for loving me." The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm, with a rosary at 7pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 10am, with interment immediately following at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
