

He was born to parents, Andrea J. Rivera and Ernesto Rivera, December 29, 1970, in Houston Tx. He married Carolina Altamirano in March, 2003 and they have one daughter, Alexxys Carolina, age 21.
Juan, affectionately know as Johnny, by all, graduated from Austin High School in 1990. He began working in the medical field in 1993 at Hermann Hospital. Here in the Texas Medical Center, he would continue his education and work, completing his Assistant Anesthesiologist degree. His career lasted 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Carolina Rivera and daughter, Alexxys Rivera;Brother, Jose E. Rivera and wife Sheila M. Rivera; Sister Andrea Rivera Perez and husband Julio A. Perez; Sister, Norma Rivera Wagner and husband Duane Wagner; Brother, Joel Rivera and wife Blanca Rivera; as well as nieces and nephews, Kristin Anderson, Sarah Medina, Joseph Darrehshoori, Abraham Darrehshoori, Mark Llanas, Eric Llanas, Sophia Llanas, Dominic Rivera, Daniel Rivera, Isabella Rivera (and their spouses).
He also leaves behind numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Johnny’s childhood home was located across the street from Lennox BBQ, where he and his siblings worked and made fond memories. He loved the outdoors and sports, playing softball, baseball and football. He loved seeing the sunrise with his wife and daughter. His times spent camping on the rivers and lakes with his family were his happy place. He loved road trips and making people smile along the way . His two biggest dreams were to chase a tornado and visit the Giza pyramids. He also wanted to go back to visit the Teotihuacan, Mexico pyramids. Johnny loved trying new things and adventures.
Our sweet memories of Johnny’s faith in Jesus, and love for his family and others, will remain in our hearts and minds until we are reunited one day.
