I only recently learned of Kathy's passing. We were close friends many years ago. We lived next door to each other in the graduate student dorm on the U. of Wisconsin campus. I believe we both got our Master's Degrees in 1966. After we both left UW, I returned to my home in New Mexico, where Kathy visited me. I thought she was a beautiful person, and I'm sorry that I cannot resume contact with her. I extend my deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

I have so many fond memories of you throughout my childhood. You were the Cousin from the big city of Houston, in awe that you were a scientist, gifted me with tea from around the world that I still love today, and always picked me up in Flatonia to go see our Rietz family in Cistern, Texas.
You were loved more than you ever realized…..fly with the Angels.

Kathleen's generosity to the College of Education at the University of Houston during her lifetime will lead to generational change for the better for students. Her legacy is deep as is our gratitude. Our sincerest condolences. 

Kathleen, you made such a difference to so many in your many years of important work at the medical center and such a difference to your cousins by your example and by the love you gave us all.  My mother, your Aunt Helen, treasured you so.  I know your dear friends will miss you as I will.  I loved you very much.  Rest in peace dear cousin.  Paula Rietz Stewart
