She was born on January 22, 1962 in Ridgewood, New Jersey to Frank and Barbara Jill Pfleger and lived the first decade of her childhood learning how to experience life as a true Jersey-Girl.
After a brief time in Florida her parents moved the family to Texas in 1973 to the Inverness Forest Subdivision in North Houston. Growing up there, she made many lifelong friends.
Kathy graduated from Nimitz High School in 1980. After graduating, she briefly attended Sam Houston State University, entered the workforce, married and started her family. Later she attended dental hygiene school and worked as a hygienist through the remainder of her career, supporting her young family. Over the years, she found great comfort in the close friendships she developed with her coworkers in the dental business.
Kathy lit up any room she entered with her dazzling smile and inviting green eyes. She gladly shared the center of attention with any who dared to match her energy. Her quick witted, unfiltered observations and unmistakable laughter, which could only be described as a joyful and unapologetic cackle, cut through the largest gatherings in a contagious fashion. In a group or in private, she never hesitated to speak her mind without pulling any punches.
She was a loving mother of three boys: Nicholas, Matthew and Samuel, and countless pets, including many black cats.
She was the best friend and devoted wife to her husband Eric. They first met in 1973 then reunited many years later in 2017. They loved each other so much, they married twice – once at the courthouse early 2018 followed by a second marriage in the Catholic Church on Halloween in 2019.
Kathy was most at home in her home in Champions. She hosted every holiday for her family, and was known for her extravagant decorations. Her favorite season was the fall, and nobody loved Halloween more than Kathy.
She defied all odds during her cancer treatment, because she always had to do things her own way. Her experimental treatments have already been used to extend the lives of others suffering with her condition.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Eric Neidinger, her parents, and beloved sons Dr. Nicholas Crist and his wife, Katherine, Matthew Crist, and Samuel Alexander and his partner Sissy, and their newborn daughter Logan Kathy.
Her absence will be felt by all those whose lives she touched.
