Leroy Grant was born on September 07, 1937 to Nancy Deal and Joe Grant in Evelyn, Louisiana. Leroy was the only son of Nancy’s six children. He received his high school diploma from All Saints High School and went on to attend Grambling University. Leroy accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior at an early age.
Leroy proudly enlisted to serve in the United States Army where he was stationed at Fort Eustis in Virginia. He served as a Sergeant and credentialed rifle sharpshooter. He was honorably discharged at the end of his enlistment. Leroy relocated to Houston, Texas to marry his high-school sweetheart Geneva. This holy union produced four daughters. Leroy spent his professional career as a leader in the oil & gas industry. After 30+ years of dedicated service, he admirably retired from Hughes Christensen. He was a hard worker with an impeccable work ethic. He would often say, “If you are on time, you are late; if you are early, you are on time”. He never gave half the effort and always set his standards high. Upon retirement, Leroy ventured into entrepreneurship and launched Grant’s Country Styled BBQ. Cooking was always a passion of his, and this was a perfect way to journey into retirement. Although a gentleman with a quiet demeanor, Leroy possessed talents in welding, machinery, electronics, roofing, gardening, transportation (CDL), and upholstery.
Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Geneva Grant, Four Sisters: Betty J. McGee, Blanche Thomas White, Bula Burden, and Florence Deal.
He leaves to cherish his beloved memories, His Daughters: Terry Parker (Melvin), Kimberly Stephens, Anitra Finley (Howard), Bridgett Johnson (Damon); His Grandchildren: Chelsea Ekwemalor, Kayla Stephens, Imani Parker, Darien Grant, Matthew Parker, Chloe Finley, and JeMarcus Johnson: One Sister: Versia Johnson, along with a host of nephews, cousins, a special lifelong best friend William Abraham, and dedicated neighbors Ernest & Barbara West and Doris Brantley.
