Linda Kay Ramirez of Houston, TX passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the age of 68. She was born on February 20, 1956 and grew up with a loving family and many friends. Family gatherings taught her how working hard and caring for others were rewarding tasks in themselves.
Linda and her future husband, Robert, attended Milby High School together, and yet didn’t meet until well after graduation. They both worked at Foley’s department store, became fast friends, and quickly fell madly in love before marrying on October 25, 1981. Being a homemaker, wife, and mother was Linda’s true joy.
She is preceded in death by her father, Henry John Dobecka; mother, Esther Mae Jones Dobecka and daughter, Kimberly Hall.
Left to cherish her memory is her spouse, Robert Ramirez; children, Lindsay Ramirez and Lee Dobecka; stepchildren, Christina Ramirez and Christopher West; sisters, Jeannie Henry and husband, Larry; Liz Jay and husband Mike; sisters-in-law, Lelia Kelly, Barbie Ramirez, Maria Elena and husband, Jim Baxley.
She is also survived by nephews, Brian Jones and Alex Jay, Mark A. Cook, Luis Granado Jr., Joe Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Rory D. Kelly, Casey J. Kelly, Kevin Kelly (preceded); nieces, Angie Granado, Sylvia Del Rio, and Linda Granado, Saira Caldwell, Natalie Storey, Megan I. Willits, along with many other family and friends.
Linda had a contagious sense of humor. She loved people and always left them smiling. When hospitalized, she often joked with the doctors and other medical staff. She believed prayer was always there to guide her, and continually prayed for others. She often ended text messages with, “Sleep with 3 angels,” in reference to the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
The family thanks the M.D. Anderson staff for the care and compassion they showed to Linda in her final days. We also thank Lindsay Ramirez for putting her life on hold to assist her parents in their time of need.
