Vena was the daughter of Russell Emanuel Whelan and Thelma Goldella Ellis and was born on October 8, 1934, in Houston Texas. Vena is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Philip H. Cronin, her two sons; Arthur Condra and Dwayne Cronin, her grandson Aurthur Condra II and her sister Aliene Whelan Drymalla .
Vena is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as many great and great great nieces and nephews.
Anyone who knew her knows she was a fiery little lady who loved the Lord and enjoyed many activities. She loved the outdoors from hunting, gardening, chasing her chickens, to standing by her man “Phil” on the racetrack in the Texas heat. She was also a great cook who loved to share her recipes and many stories of her life with us.
Vena’s life changed when she lost her son, Dwayne, age 17 to a drunk driver. She then became heavily involved with MADD and achieved many accolades and awards for her efforts. She was instrumental in helping acquire funding for the first cameras to be used in Police cars in the State of Texas.
She will be greatly missed by the ones she leaves behind, but we rejoice in knowing she will finally be reunited with her loved ones that have gone before and she has been grieving for, for so long.
