

Athelia Marceil Roberson Esquivo, age 99, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, January 31, 2021. She was born in Linden, Texas. During the war, she moved to Oak Ridge, TN and then to Houston, TX where she met and married the love of her life, Charles Esquivo. They worked side-by-side and raised three daughters. She was a remarkable woman, kind, sweet, loving, funny, strong, and the best wife, mom, aunt, grandmother that a family could ever be blessed with.
She was preceded in death by Charles, her beloved husband, of 60 years and her sisters Ione Morse, Audrey (Ernest) Patterson, Eva (Raymond) Farmer and her brother Juandell (Nell) Roberson. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Richey (Dan), Cynthia Esquivo, and Adriane Esquivo. Her magnificient grandchildren: Shawn Jackson (Amanda), Kimberly Barton, Christie (Billy) Reed & Stacie Winters. Her great-grandchildren: Shelbey (Aubrey), Ashley (Dustin), Emailey, Mckenna (Lukas), Cayden, Benjamin Charles, John, Makayla, Hunter, and Hayley. Her great-great grandchildren Dylan, Greyson, and Beckett. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and their families, including Henrietta Farmer, Kaye Lowrey, Ginger Williams, Jan Robison, Pat Roberson, Sandy Lopez, and Harry Shehtanian. She has left many friends of her daughters and grandchildren, who were considered family including Amy Lorino, Eva (Ms. Bunny) Garcia, Mark Harty, and the family of Essie Berroud. Thank you to Seasons Hospice for being there for Marceil for the last two months.
Marceil will be remembered, loved and truly missed by family and friends. She was one of a great generation.
On March 5, 2021, there will be a Visitation (9 am), Rosary (9:30 am), and Mass (10 am) held at St. Jerome Catholic Church at 8825 Kempwood Dr., Houston,TX. Interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
