passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Marcus was born in Sabinal, Texas, and moved to Houston as a teenager. He attended Milby High School and later served in the US Navy for two years. Marcus worked for the Houston Lighting and Power Company (later known as Centerpoint) for 38 years as a lineman.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marcus Tipton Sr. and Ellie Smallwood Tipton, his daughter Sandra (Sandy) Hanus, and his brother Ray Tipton and wife Shirley.
Marcus is survived by his son Elton Ray Tipton and wife Cheri, his daughter Chrystal Vitulli and husband Ed, and his brother Earl Tipton and wife Mary. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service was held at Forest Park Lawndale on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, with friends and family in attendance.
