Margie McGraw Dalton, devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and faithful and encouraging friend, was called Home by her loving God on February 19, 2026. We are comforted knowing that Margie’s joy, as ever visible in the twinkle in her eyes, is now even more full.
Margie was born in Culleoka, Texas on August 22, 1934, to Alton and Ruby McGraw, a farming family. Margie and her brother Larry were raised in a home that valued Christian ideals, gentleness, kindness, and laughter, traits that defined the way Margie lived her life. Her family eventually settled in McKinney, where she graduated from McKinney Boyd High School. Margie went on to graduate from East Texas Baptist University, where she was selected as Senior Call-Out Girl, the senior student “called out” each year for her exemplary Christian character, social consciousness, personal poise, academic achievement, and spiritual vision.
Margie was introduced to Jack Dalton of Houston, Texas, by mutual friends. After a short, long- distance courtship, they were married and started their family in Houston, Texas. Margie devoted her life to her family and supported every endeavor pursued by her two sons, John and Paul. Margie and Jack were married for 46 years before he passed away in 2005.
Margie was a member of Tallowood Baptist Church for almost 60 years, serving in many ministries. She founded the Agape Sunday School class with her dear friend Ann Murphrey. They served in many different roles over the 30 plus year existence of the class, nurturing friendships based on faith, love, and encouragement.
Outside of the church, Margie enjoyed reading, playing games, working puzzles and cheering for the Houston Astros. Margie also loved spending time with her grandchildren Matthew, Andrew and Sarah, and took pride in each of them.
Margie will be remembered for her abiding faith, her gentle, kind, thoughtful, encouraging, and generous spirit and her beautiful quiet laughter.
Margie is survived by her sons, John Dalton and his wife Lori of Dallas, and Paul Dalton of Houston; grandchildren, Matthew and his wife Kathryn, Andrew, and Sarah Dalton; brother Larry McGraw and his wife Kathy; as well as numerous other friends and relatives.
A service of praise and thanksgiving will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood, with a reception to follow.
