Maria Basquez

Maria Elena Cervantes Basquez, age 77, passed away, Friday, January 11, 2013 in Houston, Texas. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas. Her life was her family, she was the glue that held her large loving family together. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Luis H. Barrera; husband of 29 years, Gavino Basquez, Sr.; son, Enrique Barrera; granddaughter, Sabrina Barrera; and brother, Pete Cervantes. Survived by daughter, Yolanda Barrera; son, Luis Barrera, Jr. and wife Ruth; son, Ricardo Barrera; son, Rene Barrera and wife Anita; daughter, Cynthia Barrera Tovar and husband Osbaldo; son, David Barrera; son, Estevan Barrera; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jesse Cervantes and wife Irene; sisters, Lydia Perez and husband Tim; Viola Gutierrez and husband Santos; and Alicia Villa. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Dr., Houston, Texas. Rite of Committal will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
