

María Guadalupe “Lupita” Espinoza of Pasadena, Texas. passed away on October 21, 2024 at the age of 89. Lupita was born on February 25, 1935 in San Jose Iturbide, Guanajuato, Mexico. Lupita moved to the United States in 1955 in search of a better life. She married Alfredo R. Espinoza in 1966 in Mexico City. They would later move to Houston, Texas where they settled to raise their family. Together they had 4 daughters and 1 son. Lupita became a widow in 1992, later marrying Mike D. Lopez in 2004. Lupita lived in various cities during her lifetime– Guanajuato, Mexico City, Eagle Pass, San Antonio, Monterrey, Houston, Galena Park, and Pearland Texas eventually settling in Pasadena, Texas.
Lupita worked in various capacities throughout her life. She was last employed as a school custodian in the Galena Park Independent School District.
Lupita was involved in many church activities/groups throughout her lifetime. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Helen Church in Pearland. Lupita enjoyed cooking, gardening, dancing, casino outings, playing loteria, sewing, reading and especially spending time with her family and friends. She took great pride in driving herself to church and to her favorite stores past her 89th birthday. Lupita traveled to many parts of the world including locations in Mexico, the United States, and Europe.
Lupita is preceded in death by her parents Agustin Trejo and Lina Soto; first husband Alfredo R. Espinoza (d. 1992) and second husband, Mike D. Lopez (d. 2016), siblings: Elpidio Trejo, Wenceslao Trejo and his wife Sonia Trejo, Antonio Trejo and his wife Gregoria Trejo, and María Baker.
Lupita is survived by her 5 children: Lina Esquivel, Alejandra Duron (Andrew), Elena Hillje (Mark), Rosalba Norman (Chris) Alfredo A. Espinoza (Lori); 10 grandchildren: Andrea Lenders (Michael), Matthew Hillje, Cristina Hillje, Haley Gonzalez (Abel), Alicia Norman, Aaron Duron, Olivia Duron, Diego Espinoza, Joaquin Espinoza and Javier Espinoza, and 2 great-granddaughters: Emilia and Addison Lenders. Lupita also leaves behind a brother, Jorge Trejo, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
The family would like to thank the many wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at HCA Clear Lake Regional Hospital as well as the staff at Harbor Hospice for the care and compassion they showed our Mother in her final days.
Lupita’s family appreciates the many kind expressions of love and concern extended to them during this time of bereavement. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Viewing at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale, Houston, TX on Monday, October 28th, 2024 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM; Rosary from 6:00 PM - 6:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2405 Navigation, Houston, TX on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 @ 10 am; Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale.
