Maria Guadalupe Gomez

Maria Guadalupe Gomez, known as "Mamacita" to one, "Grandma" to others, and "Mom" to a special few, was born on November 13, 1935, in San Luis, Mexico and blessed into the lives of Gaspar Sánchez and Gregoria Rico. She passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, surrounded by family. A woman who believed in familial connection, Maria Guadalupe would find love with Juan Gomez, Sr., and sire a family of ten. Tough but fair, she instilled determination, resiliency, and responsibility into her children, and was never too far away with a wag of a finger, the threat of a belt, or with profound wisdom. As the years grew, the seed she planted with Juan blossomed as her life was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren. With them, she was compassionate, patient, and warm, and though a language barrier was present for some, all could feel the love and kindness that she extended, especially to newcomers. Her life was blessed further with the birth of numerous great-grandchildren, whom she loved and cherished deeply. Her modest home was the site of numerous celebrations, good-times, and get-togethers, with the sounds of laughter and love echoing throughout. Her cooking was made with love and devotion and was offered to anyone who stepped through her door. An avid gardener, Maria Guadalupe's passion was, much like her life, growing her garden. Her favorite time of day was the morning, as she could be found nurturing her plants or embracing the start of a brand-new day. Her family was her life, and what a good life it was. Though her physical presence is gone, the wisdom she espoused, the love she gave, and the memories she made, will forever be etched into the hearts and minds of her family and friends.

She is survived by her seven children; Daniel Gomez and wife, Olga; Mario Gomez and, husband, Bill Howard; Juan Gomez and Armando Gomez and wife, Jenny; Maria De Los Angeles De Los Reyes and husband, Adan Des Los Reyes; Maria Gomez and husband, Jose Perez; Gabriella Gomez-Pedraza and husband, Samuel Pedraza; sister-in-law, Felis Gomez; and beloved granddaughter, Cecilia Mendoza, along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maria Guadalupe joins her husband, Juan Gomez, and her children, Gaspar Gomez, Margarita Mendoza, and Alicia Gomez - Ramos in eternal rest.
