On March 16, 1952, Marilyn Virginia Carter was born to Mattie H. Carter and George L. Carter whom preceded her in death. She was the third child of three children born into her family. During her pilgrimage here with us, she attended Houston Independent School District schools; Blackshear Elementary, J. D. Ryan Junior High and San Jacinto High. She continued her education at a Houston Trade School for Sewing, where her passion was becoming a Seamstress. Marilyn was employed at an American Insurance Company, where she worked in the clerical department. With the blessing of being raised in a Christian and loving home, Marilyn professed Christ at an early age. She was very active in the children, youth and young adult ministries at Boynton United Methodist Church. After marriage, she transferrred her membership to St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a very loving and caring person who touched many people through her life, even after she later became deaf and disabled. In 1972, she married Bruce Brown and later divorced. To this union, no children were born. In 2010, due to health problems, she became a resident at Mission Care Nursing Home until death. On Tuesday, February 18, an angel was sent to carry Marilyn home. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, guardians and brother. In God's care, she leaves to cherish her loving memories: a sister, Margaret Scott; a niece, Marleena Scott Payne; two nephews, Aaron Scott and Hernando Payne and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
