Marjorie Mae Semien

Her family moved to Houston, Texas where she resided for 73 years. She was married and gave birth to five children - Marjorie Ruth, Barbara, Lena/Edwina, Gail, and David. Both while raising her children and afterward, she dedicated her life to the service of the infirm and elderly.

She worked at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Medical Center until her retirement after 25 years of dedicated service. Due to her caring, nurturing heart, she reentered the workforce after only three short years of rest and relaxation. She served the elderly, for whom she had an earnest affinity, at The Terrace at West University for 10 years until she became ill in 2007.

After she was able to travel, she moved to Vallejo, California where she was lovingly nursed back to health by her eldest daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Ruth and Ralph Alexander. They adoringly cared for her for 8 years. She returned to Texas for a visit in May of 2013. She lived in Spring, Texas until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her father - Felix, mother - Odessa, sister - Mable, sister-in-law - Jean Marie, 4 nephews - Jerry, Tony, Earl, & Charles, and 2 nieces - Carolyn & Renee.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law - Marjorie Ruth & Ralph Alexander, daughter and son-in-law - Barbara & Robert Allen, daughter - Lena/Edwina Cain, daughter and son-in-law - Eva Gail & Al Bedford, son - David Andres, foster mother - Lillie B. Melvin, and foster daughter - Deborah Hadley. Siblings and their spouses: Chester (Roberta) Semien, Mazie Guillory, Charles (Susie) Semier, and Mildred (Wilbert Guillory). Grandchildren and their spouses: Rick (Kathy) Derry, Danielle (Robert Wiley), Nathan Keith Derry, Angela Andres, De’Chelle Allen, Robin (Rylan Scott), Christie (Mike Allen), Ray (Adisa) Bedford, William Bedford, Chastity (David Jenkins), and Caressa Andres. Great grandchildren: Jacquingamen Alexander, Yevachae Haynes, Richarra Derry, Jaelyn Kelly, Caitlyn Wiley, Jordan Andres, Raylan Scott , Brooke Cain, Patrick Kaczmarski, Aimee Kaczmarski, Alexandria Allen, Chloe Allen, Christopher Allen, Aiden Bedford, Alaya Andres, Meredia Andres, and Dorian Andres. Great-great grandchild: Kaiili Noelani Cain. She is also survived by a host of nieces & nephews and their spouses, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 6 pm to 8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home
