

Born on November 8, 1947, in Houston, Mark was the eldest of two children born to Jack and Marguerite (Hinderliter) Allen. From a young age, he embodied the values of integrity, dedication to family, and kindness—qualities that defined his life and the relationships he built with those around him.
Mark graduated at the prestigious Bellaire High School in Bellaire,Texas before proudly serving in the Marine Corps Reserves during the Vietnam War. His commitment to service and honor extended beyond the military, shaping his career and inspiring him to pursue higher education at Sam Houston State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. During his time there, he pledged a lifelong brotherhood with Kappa Alpha Order—a bond he cherished throughout his golden years.
Mark built a successful career as an International Shipping Coordinator before discovering his true passion—collecting and selling antiques. He became a dedicated antique dealer, proudly working at Round Top, where he applied his diligence and expertise until retirement.
A man of many passions, Mark was a true music aficionado, amassing an impressive collection spanning multiple genres. He loved to dance, often joking that he inherited his moves from his mother. His enthusiasm for dance ranged from Big Band and Country/Western Two-Step to Nightclub Two-Step and Rhythm Two-Step, a style rooted in African-American traditions. He was also an avid picker, traveling across the United States, as well as Western and Southeastern Europe, in search of antiques.
Mark’s passions extended beyond music and antiques—he was also a dedicated reader and a scholar of Texas history, amassing a personal library of over 4,000 books. He had a remarkable ability to balance knowledge, humor, education, and personal passions, enriching every circle he was part of. His sharp wit and playful spirit made him a natural prankster, always finding joy in bringing laughter to family and friends. Above all, Mark was defined by his unwavering loyalty, honesty, and warmth. He deeply loved people and cultivated lasting friendships across all walks of life.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Mamisi Ayanna Gordon-Allen; his children, Christiane and Dustin; his ex-wife, Linda (Emanuel) Thomas, who is the mother of his children; and his cherished grandchildren, Camryn-Irene, Jett, and Ace. He is also survived by his brother, Mitchell Allen, along with his spouse, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite (Hinderliter) Allen; his aunt, Irene Inez Bruns; his grandmother, Margaret Hinderliter; and his father, Jack Allen.
Mark’s legacy of integrity, dedication, and love for his family will forever be cherished. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
