Mark was born on September 11, 1965, in Austin, Texas, to Magdaleno Flores Martinez Sr. and Dolores Salinas. He graduated from Barbara Jordan High School in 1985 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1987, serving until 1991, which included a tour in Desert Storm.
In 2016, Mark married Elizabeth, and they made their home together in Houston, Texas. Though they had no children together, Mark and Elizabeth shared a blended family, each bringing two boys from previous relationships, whom Mark loved and cared for as his own.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Marie Martinez; his children: Mark Anthony Martinez Jr. and Matthew Andrew Martinez; and his stepchildren: Steven Anthony Medina and Christopher Angel Medina. He is also survived by his mother, Dolores Abrego; his stepfather, Alfredo Abrego Sr.; his siblings: Joann Tabor and husband John, Richard Zepeda, Magdaleno Martinez Jr. and wife Cassandra, George Martinez, and Augustina Cabrera and husband Primitivo; his stepbrothers: Alfred Abrego Jr. and wife Michelle, Victor Martinez, and Rick Martinez; and his stepsisters: Teresa Martinez and Mary Lou Martinez. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Magdaleno Martinez Sr.; his sister, Patsy Rose; and his stepsister, Anita Abrego.
Mark worked as an HVAC technician, first for his stepfather and later independently, for many years. At the same time, he worked as a checker at the Port of Houston. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers, Los Carnales/La Familia (Black and Red Nation), working on his motorcycle while listening to his favorite tunes, and talking trash about his home sports teams to anyone who would listen. Mark also cherished moments with his grandson, Papito, and his beloved English bulldog, Honey M.
