Marvin Currie, born October 21, 1937, in Zwolle, LA. He was raised in Willis, TX. He entered the gates of Heaven on May 14, 2023, at the age of 85 at home in Huntsville, TX. He was blessed to be surrounded by his family at the time of his passing.
Marvin married the love of his life, Sherri Glynn, on May 10, 1957. They soon found a life full of adventure when they welcomed four bouncing boys quickly into their marriage. Sherri was the love of his life, and in a sense, they grew up together. They made a commitment, became a team, and never lost sight of that. Life for the “Currie Crew” was filled with good times, laughter, and a lot of adventure. In 1988, they moved to Trinity, TX where they built a beautiful home together and made many life-long memories and friends. In 2002, they made Huntsville, TX their home.
Marvin was a man with a true servant’s heart. He attended Irvington Pentecostal Church in Houston, TX for over 30 years, where he was the Bus Minister and Outreach Director. He always put his family first, and one of his greatest joys was helping others. He didn't boast or talk about when he would give to others; many times, it went unnoticed by the rest of us. He was a man who led by example and taught each of his boys how to be strong, yet tender, and have generous hearts.
He was the Owner and Operator of Action Enterprises for over 30 years; along with his partners Don Redig and Carl McEver. He was also the sole owner of Machine Tool Locator’s for over 25 years. He was a self-made man with a strong work ethic and determination.
Colorado always held a special place for Marvin and Sherri. Countless summer vacations would lead them to buy a little getaway of their own. Countless more memories were made with his family, friends, and loved ones.
He had a love for street racing, fast cars, mag wheels, the color red, and let us not forget his overwhelming love for sports. Second to Sherri, he loved the game of golf, which he ingrained in all of his boys and even his grandchildren. He may not have been big in stature, but to us, he was a GIANT.
Marvin is survived by his sweetheart of 66 years, Sherri Currie, and their sons Kirk and his wife Helen, Kevin and his wife Becky, Brick and his wife Becky, Krea and his wife Paula. He is also survived by his sister Lorine Henn.
He will forever be cherished by his grandchildren: Brock (Kelly) Currie, Blake (Morgan) Currie, Blaine Currie, Chelsea (Zoran) Pecikozic, Courtney Bednar, Brittany (Eric) Malek, Taylor Currie, Palmer (Ashley) Currie, Parker (Molly) Currie. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Lil' Brock, Brynlee, Brett, Chezley, Greyson, Daphne, Nora, Rhett, Riley, Remington, Archer, and soon-to-arrive baby Elliott. Additionally, he leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father John Currie, his mother Pearl and husband Benny Helms, his brothers, Sonny, James, and his sister, Johnnie Pearl Keel.
The Currie Family invites you to celebrate his life at a memorial service. The service will be on Monday, May 22, 2023. A visitation will be held at 1pm-2pm with a service immediately following at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston TX 77060. A Graveside Service will follow.
