Never Met Your Mom But I know She was Loved by all who knew Her!

Deepest sympathy to all of Mary's family.   I think of her and remember that twinkle in her eye and engaging laugh.  A very special lady!  She was one of my Mother's dearest friends.

To all you Fertittas - I remember all of you, your Father and Mother, and some of the special times we shared in Richmond and Maryland.  I can still hear your Mother's "TAKE CHARGE" orders to the youngsters (my Marla included) and your Mother's sweet and kind laugh at all the funny or enjoyable events.  I have never forgotten the family closeness and kindnesses I learned from those too short meetings.  May you reach peace and calm in the days ahead.  Marsha Schmidt

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Fertitta numerous times at Henrico Drs Hospital Outpatient Surgery Department.  Even though no one likes to have
to come and have surgery on a regular basis, she was always a joy to take care.  I also got to meet Ann Marie Turnage on those numerous occasions-Mrs Turnage you always took such great care of her.  It was always a privilege to be her nurse each time she came.  She was a great lady and I am sure you and your family will miss her but the angels have a gained another gem. Beautiful Mary - Halloween Day 2012

My friend, Mary Fertitta (sweetest lady) passed away yesterday (Wed.) at the age of 93 yrs. She had suffered enough here on earth and God blessed her. My condolences go out to all of her family, especially Ann Marie Ann Seven, who has kept her Mother in her home while she worked. She has had at least two faithful caregivers, Wanda Walters during the day along with others and Margaret day and night for a long time. I worked with Mary in earlier times and she loved to play cards and usually beat. We would go get fast food some times or I even took her to a meeting at the Moose Lodge and to my daughter's house to see the twins dressed for Halloween, but those days hadn't been in a long time for her. My prayers are with the family as they go through the visitation Friday and Mass of Christian Funeral on Saturday at St. Edwards Catholic Church.


 Mary was born and reared in Houston, TX and in talking to her, my grandtwins were baptised in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Houston, TX while my son-in-law was on a Fellowship with a surgeon there. It turned out that St. Ann's was where Mary had gone to church and school as a young girl up and related that at school there she was running down the steps and a Sister happened to be at the bottom of the step when she landed - she wasn't supposed to be running, of course. It's a small world when you talk to people. I was meant to meet and know Mary.  I'm thankful for the time we knew each other.

I'm very proud of my Mother. She made us all feel as if we were her favorite. She taught me manners, Christian values, and a positive attitude.I know she is proud of all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Love and Prayers.

So many fond memories what do I say?  I grew up being told that I was like Aunt Mary.  My first name was given to me in your honor. I remember your brushing my hair in Greatvine telling me how much you wanted your own little girl. Your dream came true and you were both blessed. You leave this life loved and you will be missed; however, my generation will be sure your strength and love lives on for the family.

When i think of you, happy memories come to mind. I will carry all the wonderful things you taught me with me forever...you will be missed by everyone.

So sorry for your loss. Praying for yall.

Grandmother I'm blessed to have memories with you and for you to have been such a great impact in my life you were a very strong person ! I will cherish memories especially childhood ones with you ! Rest in paradise I know your with all your loved ones now... And in no more suffering or pain . Love you grandmother May peace be with each and every person this has effected ... You were one amazing woman. You will be surely missed. Loved coming to see you . I found all the beautiful notes we used to write to each other. Can not wait to see your beautiful face one day. Thank you for being such a wonderful grandmother to me. Love you always

Dearest Aunt Mary, we will miss your laugh and positive outlook on life. We will always remember the fun times you and Mom had at the 'Bradford Arms'.  We rejoice to know that the Geriatric Delinquents are together again!

Grandmother you were a blessing I loved you dearly every minute I had with you was a gift

Our Grandmother Fertitta was an amazing person.   I will miss calling her to ask about a receipe or ask questions about sewing.    I will cherish the summers spent at her house, on the boat skiing and down at the pool.   So proud of all the life lessons she taught my brother and sisters.   Good times had by everyone she touch.
