

Mary Louise Martin Helmcamp, 95, died on December 3rd 2016. She was born at home on the near Northside of Houston, the third of five children to Harold Hiram and Mary Wranker Martin on November 7, 1921. She attended Roosevelt Elem, Burbank Jr. High and Jeff Davis High School. She was a part of the ever dwindling Greatest Generation, where hard work and sacrifice were at the core of her being. She was frugal yet generous with love and devotion to her family and friends. Mary was wed to the love of her life Clifford E. Helmcamp on July 12, 1941 in the parsonage of Christ Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with three children. She was a devoted and loving wife to her husband and a perfect mother to her children. Mary was Nin to her nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over 58 years until its ministry ceased in 2015. She was honored to be one of its oldest members and attended the final service. Mary was then lovingly accepted into membership at Trinity Lutheran Church. She continued to drive until her early 90's and was happy living alone in her own home staying busy with daily devotions, working crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble with anyone willing to challenge her. She now rests in peace and reigns in glory with all the saints for all eternity. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, one sister, her daughter-in-law Amy Helmcamp, and most recently her beloved youngest child Karen Moody who died in April of this year.
Mourning her loss and rejoicing in the blessed assurance of her salvation are her son, Cliff Helmcamp (Jerry Jeanmard), daughter, Patti Bill (Ken), grandchildren, Rhonda Tavey, Rodney Moody, Kimberley McGovern (Michael ), Randy Moody (Chassie), Corri Eaves (Eric), Rachelle Moody (Vince Anderson), Leslie Helmcamp (Brian Cannon), Chad Helmcamp (Rachelle) and Jamie Bill (Gentry), great grandchildren, Katie Tavey (Emily Nicks), Lauren Tavey, Jake Eaves, Ashley Garza, Clayton Eaves, Meryl Eaves, Rowdy Moody, Trey Thomas, Jul iett e Bill, Oona Cannon, Wyatt Bill and Theodore Cannon; great-great grandchildren Lexalynn Tavey and Luka Tavey-Nicks. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, December 12, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 800 Houston Ave. A visitation and luncheon will follow. Committal will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. If desired memorial donations may be directed to the Organ Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church.
