Maudelle Buck Stephens left her earthly tabernacle on May 30, 2025 at the age of 91 surrounded by loved ones. She was born on August 25, 1933 in Houston, TX to Pitman August Buck, Sr. and Katherine Kaule Buck. A third generation native Houstonian, she was a resident of Cypress, TX for 53 years before moving to Georgetown, TX.
Maudelle felt fortunate to have had parents who believed in God and taught her Christian values. Summers were spent with her woodworking father and created some of her best childhood memories.
For the most part, she was very healthy growing up and enjoyed school, participating in a variety of activities. In high school, music and volleyball were the most important to her. For a while, it was her dream to be a professional singer. In her later years, she briefly joined a Christian choir to continue singing heavenly praises.
Maudelle married “the love of her life,” Alvin Watts Stephens in September 1956. They shared laughs and a love of music and country living on their five-acre spread in Cypress. They both loved to be outdoors amongst the tall pines. Sharing enjoyment of travel provided some of her best memories and increased her faith while observing God’s awesome creations.
Having experienced being burned in 1960, Maudelle later came to share her empathy with others as an area coordinator with the Phoenix Society for burn survivors. She and Al helped establish a Burn Camp for children in Texas.
Maudelle had pride in all she did including her time as a secretary and marketing representative for Igloo Corp. and as a medical transcriptionist for Methodist Hospital in Houston.
