Mavis Carter Hamilton was born January 1, 1920 and the Lord called her home on December 19, 2010. Mavis was born and raised in the Huntsville, Texas area and relocated to start and raise her family in Houston, Texas. In later years she moved to Alvin, Texas to be near her family. Mavis loved being a homemaker, cooking and just expressing the greatest gift of all, love, in her own authentic way. Mavis was preceded in death by her husband Marion Carter, mother, father, 11 siblings, and one son, Joseph Milton Carter. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Carter of Alvin, Texas; grandchildren, Jason Carter, Jared Carter and wife Melissa and their son Bryson, Amy Nesrsta and husband Eric, Jamie Fricker, Rhonda Burnr, Joe Carter Jr., Jimmy, Cindy, and Joey Stevenson and their children. She will be dearly missed and always remembered for her love, laughter, and awesome cooking. Mavis truly made this world a better place with God’s character and love. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. and Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, with Interment to follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
