
Michelene Lorino Campise, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and co-worker passed away peacefully on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the age of 67, after living courageously with ALS, (Lou Gehrig's Disease) in her retirement years. She was a native Houstonian, born on the 21st of January 1950 to the late Michael Thomas Lorino and Josephine Rita Lorino. Michelene was preceded in death by her loving parents, her wonderful loving sisters, the late, Rosalie Lorino Campise and Annette Lorino, her grandparents, the late Annie and Sam M. Lamonte, and the late Rosalie(Lilly) and Pete Lorino, and her in-laws, Margaret Emmite Campise and Alfonso Paul Campise. Michelene grew up in the "East End" of Houston, Texas, attended Queen of Peace Catholic Grade School, Graduated High School from St. Agnes Academy, National Honor Society and part of Senior Student Council in 1968, and graduated The University of Houston, with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Accounting in 1972. A member of Beta Alpha Psi an honorary accounting and finance organization. Michelene was also a Little Sister and 1972 Sweetheart of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity. After graduating The University of Houston, in 1972, Michelene began her 40 year Accounting career at US Industrial Chemical Company in LaPort, Texas. Michelene continued her career with increased levels of responsibility in accounting as the company changed names through the years to Quantum Chemical, Millennium Chemical, Equistar Chemical, after purchase by Lyondell Chemical and until retirement in 2012, with Lyondellbasell Chemical in Corporate Inventory Accounting downtown Houston, Texas. April 22, 1989 Michelene married her sweetheart Paul Alan Campise, the boy next door. Literally lived 3 blocks away from each and enjoyed wonderful years together. As Michelene began to think of retirement in 2009 she was diagnosed with ALS. As the years past & her ALS progressed, Michelene was always eager to welcome family, friends, classmates, and co-workers into her home, to laugh, reminisce, and just enjoy their company and friendship. This was the highlight of her days during her illness. (What Happened at Mikie's Stayed at Mikie's). Always so much fun. Michelene always had her house decorated for the season that gave her much joy. She was so thoughtful and generous to all. Michelene was such an inspiration will be missed by so many. Michelene is survived by her loving and caring husband Paul Alan Campise, Paul was at her side cooking, washing, and caring for Michelene as she progressed through ALS over the years. Paul dedicated his life to his wife's extraordinary care. Also, survived by family; Brother-in-law, J. Leon Campise; nephew, Leonard J. Campise, wife Jami, their children, Isabella Grace, and Megan Giley; nephew, Michael T. Campise, wife Jacquelyn, their children, Marissa Ann, Joseph Michael, and Gianna Marie; and numerous cousins, friends, and co-workers. The family would like to thank Dorothy Wright and Lily Lopez, her care givers, for their dedication and loyal friendship through her illness. Also, thanks to Dr. Appel and his outstanding staff at the ALS Clinic at Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas for their care and support as Michelene progressed through ALS over the years.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM, at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 1111 St. Joseph Parkway in Houston, where the Father Alfonso Tran., is to serve as the celebrant. Prior to the Mass, the family will receive friends for visitation at 9:00 AM in the narthex of the Cathedral. A private interment is to follow at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston.
