

Cardell “Cowboy” Rudd a loving son, father and friend entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 18th, 2015. He ended his hard fought fight against his illnesses at his residence in Houston, TX. Cardell was born on February 2nd, 1952 to the late Willie Tom Rudd Sr. and Odell Rudd in Houston, TX. He was the 6th of 9 children born to Willie and Odell. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Royal Terrace Baptist Church under Reverend Hubbard. Always the comedian of the family, you could always count on him for a good joke and he kept everyone laughing. He made many lifelong friends while attending Pleasantville Elementary, E.O. Smith, and Phillis Wheatley High School. He was extremely intelligent and loved to read books and write poetry. Cardell also loved sports and spent some time as a member of the Wheatley Wild Cats football team.On April 23rd, 1969. He welcome his only child, a daughter, Lisa Renee Wheaton into the world. They remained inseparable until he passed away. He worked as a laborer for many years, and stayed gainfully employed with the City of Houston, Exxon and HL&P. In his spare time he would help family and friends with house and yard work whenever needed. On most Sunday morning, when he was well enough to attend, you would find him visiting the churches of his family members or where his friends pastored. He greatly believed in helping those less fortunate than him. You could often find him volunteering at churches and helping in any way he could. Another favorite pastime of his was working with his daddy landscaping and cutting yards.During his last years he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was always the life of the party at every family function! He will be dearly missed. Left to remember and miss his wonderful spirit are his mother Odell Rudd; Siblings: Eva Stephens (Late LC), Margie Stephens (Late Wilbert), Azzie, Ann Miller, Rachel Gordon, brother in law (Ray Gordon Sr.) Ronald (Pam) and Donna Hines (James). His daughter Lisa R. Wheaton, grandson DeVonte Portier, his best friend Larry Hogan, and his wife. He is proceeded in death by his father Willie T. Rudd Sr. and his oldest brother Willie T. Rudd Jr. He will also be greatly missed by all his nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
