

Pauline Banks was born on May 11, 1924 in Benson, LA, and attended school there. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was united in marriage on September 1, 1943 to Willie J.T. Banks, Sr., and to this union ten children were born. She was a loving wife and mother. She moved to Houston in 1950 and became a member of the Mt. Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. In 1970 she moved her membership under the leadership of her husband/Pastor Rev. Willie Banks, Sr. at New Friendship Baptist Church (now known as New Harvest Church) where she faithfully served until her health failed, under the leadership of Bishop Frederick N. Banks, Sr. She was well known for her "Southern" cooking. She enjoyed singing, travelling, and fishing. Mrs. Banks was a "Mother" to a lot of people - she was always looking out for others, lending a helping hand. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Willie J.T. Banks, Sr., three sons, Willie Jr., Freddy, and Johnny. She leaves to cherish her memory: seven children, Shirley Hudson, Dorothy Jean Elmore (Isaac), Curtis Banks (Marie), Douglas Banks, Ernestine Shepard (Robert), Melzena Banks, Katherine Johnson (Terrance), daughter-in-law Betty Banks; two sisters, Flora James "Aunt Sis" from Houston, and Pearle Mangle from Oakland, CA.; 23 Grandchildren; 63 Great grandchildren; 7 Great, Great grandchildren, her dear friend Ms. Freddie Jean McIntyre, and a host of other relatives and friends.
