

On October 25, 2012, our beloved Nora Buggs transitioned to her eternal home. Nora Buggs was born on April 23, 1950 to the late Noah Hatter, and Uree Turner Hatter in Haynesville, Louisiana. The last born of nine children, she was also a twin. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Harris at Shiloh Baptist Church in Haynesville, Louisiana. Around the age of seven, Nora began to sing with her siblings, better known as the Hatter Sisters, throughout churches in northern Louisiana and Arkansas. She attended Woodson High School where she graduated in 1968. While at Woodson High School, she sang in the choir with her classmate and friend Larry Buggs, who would later become the love of her life. On August 18, 1973, Nora and Larry married at the home of her sister, Vera Taylor in Summerfield, Louisiana. To this union, no children were born, but she was a loving and caring aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Nora was employed at Kmart in retail sales for 20 years until the store closed. She was also employed at Marshalls and worked for the Houston ISD Transportation Department. She was passionate about sewing, cooking, and baking desserts for her family to enjoy. The Buggs attended Greater Bethlehem Baptist Church where the late Rev. H.L. Goode was pastor. However, in 1974, they relocated and became members at Yale Street Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.T. Holcombe Sr. Sister Buggs was a faithful church member known for her melodious voice. She was also an active participant of the Sanctuary Choir and the Deaconess Board. When the leadership changed at Yale Street, she remained an unwavering member of under the care and guidance of Pastor T. Leon Preston II, until her health failed. In November 1992, her father, Noah Hatter preceded her in death . To embrace her memories, she leaves her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Larry Darnell Buggs, her mother Uree Hatter of Emerson, AR.; six sisters, Vera Taylor of Haynesville, LA. , Maxine Oliver (James) of Emerson, AR. , Minnie Payne of Los Angeles, CA., Audrey Green (Rev. Green) of Riverside, CA., Mildred Gray (Rev. Gray) of McNair, TX., and Ruthie Hubbard (Charles) of Houston, TX. Two brothers, James Hatter of Houston, TX and Noah Hatter (Audrey) of Houston, TX; a host of nieces and nephews and numerous relatives and friends. A blessing and a gift to all who knew her, Nora Buggs will be dearly missed.
