

Dr. Norma Jeane Cottrill, a native Houstonian and 5th generation Texan, passed away July 12, 2015 at Lewisville Medical Center in Lewisville, TX after suffering from Alzheimer’s. She now joins her loving husband Jack Arthur Cottrill, whom passed away December 30, 1996. They were married at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church. Norma was the only child and daughter of Olen Edel Denson and Helen M. Knight and stepdaughter of Melmouth Alton (Jack) Knight. She leaves behind her son Jason Arthur Cottril, daughter-in-law Jody M. Weiner Cottrill, and grandson Joshua Arthur Maddox Cottrill. Norma attended San Jacinto High School, the University of Houston where she obtained her B.S., M.A., and P.H.D., and did some graduate work at TCU and was a Baylor University Alumni by choice. She was a surgical R.N., past Matron in the Order of Eastern Star, state champion of singles and doubles tennis, and a master gardener in the Galveston County Agricultural Extension Service. Norma ended her working days by retiring from HISD as school administrator. A visitation will be held Friday, July 17, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am in the Colonial Chapel of Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home with interment immediately following. The family wishes to thank the Medical team at Lewisville Medical Center ICU for their fantastic care and support of their Mom.
