Olga Navarro Alvarado was born in San Benito, Texas in 1938, to Luis Navarro and Leonor Garza. After moving to Mexico, she eventually migrated to Houston with her only child Virginia who was 9 years old. Olga began work at the Houston Chronicle as a key punch operator knowing very limited English. She moved up in ranks and completed 33 years at the newspaper company as a data systems operator. Her husband Luis G Alvarado served in the US army. A majority of her life was dedicated to helping her single mother daughter rear her grandson and granddaughter. She is fondly remembered as an intelligent, hardworking, diligent, strict disciplinarian who never gave up on her loved ones and held a prayerful faith in God. Olga went to be with the Lord in her home on January 22, 2019 at age 91. She is survived by her daughter, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. We love you Grandma and miss you!
