Owana Bair Hammons passed away April 25, 2013. Born September 25, 1927 in Alexandria, LA, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Luther Earl Hammons of Houston, TX, her son Howard Kent Hammons of Conroe, and her parents Charles and Della Grace Bair of Alexandria, LA. Owana was a lifelong fan of country music, her family and Elvis Presley. A resident of Houston, TX since 1948, she held numerous accounting positions with several Houston area companies such as PriceWaterhouse, Earthman Funerals, and ending her long career with Stewart Title. She is survived by her son, Howell Keith Hammons and his wife Darrin Hammons of Hempstead, TX, daughter-in-law Coleen Hammons of Conroe, TX, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visitation to be held on Monday, April 29, from 5-9PM. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, April 30, at 11:00AM. All services to be held at Forest Park Lawndale Chapel and Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Ave., Houston, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Cancer Society or The Wounded Warrior Project.
