Rachel Green Maddox Eastman went to be with her Lord on January 27, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, William F. Eastman and her eldest son, Larry Eastman. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Gordon and Jan Eastman of Katy, Texas and Dr. Anthony and Joetta Eastman of Boiling Springs, North Carolina, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Rachel was born in Laurel, Mississippi in 1918 and married William Finley “Sarge” Eastman in 1935. They had three sons and lived on many bases as Finley served our country in the United States Army. When Sarge retired from service they resided in Meridian, Mississippi until Sarge’s death in 1991. Rachel moved to Boiling Springs for several years and then to Katy, Texas for the remainder of her life.
Rachel put herself through nursing school and worked at Rush’s Hospital for many years. She was a strong woman with an unbending determination and her sense of humor will be missed.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30th from 5-7 at Waltrip Funeral Directors, where funeral services will be held in the chapel on Thursday, January 31st at 10am.
