Raul Almaguer

Raúl Almaguer, de Houston, Texas, falleció el miércoles 19 de agosto de 2026, a los 89 años de edad. Nació el 20 de agosto de 1936 en Villagrán, Tamaulipas, México, donde creció en una familia unida, arraigada en el trabajo duro, la fe cristiana y el compromiso de cuidarse unos a otros. Desde sus humildes comienzos, Papi aprendió que si algo necesitaba hacerse, se trabajaba con dedicación y se hacía bien.

Papi quizá no tuvo títulos colgados en la pared, pero quienes lo conocieron sabían cuán inteligente, capaz y hábil era. Aprendía rápido: observaba algo, lo comprendía y muchas veces encontraba la manera de hacerlo él mismo. Desde joven trabajó en la Compañía Embotelladora Coca‑Cola en Matamoros, Tamaulipas, y más tarde en Brownsville, Texas. Eventualmente se mudó a Houston, donde trabajó como soldador en Quality Electric Steel Company, empresa de la cual se retiró después de más de 30 años de servicio dedicado.

Durante más de 50 años, participó activamente en la iglesia El Buen Pastor, United Methodist Church. La fe de Papi no era algo que solo mencionara; se veía en la manera en que vivía. Su relación con Dios le dio sabiduría, fortaleza y una resiliencia que lo acompañó toda su vida.

Fue precedido en muerte por muchos familiares queridos que fueron llamados a la presencia del Señor antes que él, incluyendo a su nieto Eric Arriozola. Su familia encuentra consuelo en saber que ahora ellos lo reciben en su hogar celestial.

Le sobreviven su esposa de 65 años, Juanita Almaguer, y deja en vida a sus cuatro hijas — Carlota Almaguer, Martha Almaguer, Blanca M. Almaguer y Judith Almaguer — a quienes amó profundamente y a quienes permaneció dedicado toda su vida. También le sobreviven nueve nietos y doce bisnietos que le dieron un inmenso orgullo y alegría.

El amor de Papi se vivía, no se decía. Lo demostraba en los largos días de trabajo, en los sacrificios que hizo, en la manera en que proveía, protegía, enseñaba y seguía adelante sin importar las circunstancias. Su familia recordará por siempre la profundidad de su devoción — no solo lo duro que trabajó, sino que cada gota de ese esfuerzo fue por ellos.

Raul Almaguer of Houston, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on August 20, 1936, in Villagran, Tamaulipas, Mexico where he grew up in a close-knit family where hard work, Christian faith, and taking care of one another were simply a way of life. From humble beginnings, Daddy learned early that if something needed to be done, you worked hard and did it right.

Daddy may not have had degrees hanging on the wall, but anyone who knew him knew how intelligent and capable he was. He was a quick learner who could observe something, understand it, and often figured out how to do it himself.

From an early age, he worked at the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, and later in Brownsville, Texas. He eventually moved to Houston, Texas, where he worked as a welder for Quality Electric Steel Company, from which he later retired after over 30 years of dedicated service.

He was actively involved at El Buen Pastor, United Methodist Church for over 50 years. Daddy’s faith wasn’t something he only talked about; it was seen in the way he lived. His relationship with God gave him wisdom and resilience.

He was preceded in death by many beloved family members who went home to the Lord before him, and his family takes comfort in knowing they now welcome him home including his grandson, Eric Arriozola.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Juanita Almaguer. He leaves behind four daughters: Carlota Almaguer, Martha Almaguer, Blanca M. Almaguer, and Judith Almaguer whom he loved fiercely and remained devoted to throughout his life as well as his nine grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren who brought him tremendous pride and joy.

Daddy’s love was lived, not spoken. He showed it in the long days he worked, the sacrifices he made, the way he provided, protected, taught, and kept going no matter what. His family will forever remember the depth of his devotion — not simply how hard he worked, but that every ounce of that effort was for them.

The family would like to thank the entire medical team at Houston Methodist Hospital for the care and compassion they showed our daddy.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023, in the Grand Chapel.

Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
