Raymond Wesley Taylor, 68, of Houston Texas passed away March 26th, 2018 in his home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his mother, Helen Turner, son, Raymond Taylor Jr. and his wife Tasha, daughter Rachelle Denton-Taylor and her wife Lauren, three grandchildren, Peyton, Austin, and Brynlee, and his sisters Lois Johnson, Charlotte Taylor, Donna Taylor and her husband Byron. He was preceded in death by his fathers, Louis “Buck” Taylor and Walter “Buddy” Turner, and his brother Roy Taylor. Raymond was born during a blizzard in Chicago, and lived in Arkansas during his early childhood, but spent most of his life in Houston, Texas. He was a Vietnam Veteran proudly serving in the Navy as a ship fitter. Among his many professions, he worked as a seaman and a longshoreman in the Houston Ship Channel, owned his own A/C installation and repair business, and later worked as a painter and carpenter. He also volunteered for a time ministering and reading scripture to inmates. Raymond loved fishing, hunting, boating, dancing and being the life of the party. He also enjoyed reading and western movies. He was full of life and always on the go until his later years when his carefree lifestyle finally forced him to slow down. His infectious smile and playful nature will be missed. Despite any vices, he was truly genuine and sincere at heart and wished to make those around him feel happy, loved, and at home. Although his absence leaves a void, we will always carry his memory in our hearts.
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. (Romans 8:18)
I am absolutely sure that not even death or life can separate us from God’s love. (Romans 8:38)
