Richard Benny Jordan was born on February 20, 1945 in Tatum, Texas to Elmo and Novella Jordan. He graduated from the Henderson Public School System and soon after joined the U.S. Army where he held numerous leadership positions, such as Air Defenseman, Infantryman and Recruiter. His bravery in the Vietnam War earned him numerous awards. He retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1983. He met and married Gloria Agnew March 6, 1965. They added 5 children to this union. He was baptized and became a deacon at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas and transitioned to All Nations Baptist Church in Houston, Texas where he remained a faithful member until his untimely departure on November 28, 2015. Richard is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gloria of Houston, two sons, Richard Jr. of Houston and Lonnie Jordan Sr. (Nicole) of Fort Worth, Three daughters, Lorraine Agnew, Sherrie Jordan and Rebekah Jordan, all of Houston, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren three sisters, Mozelle Daniels of Houston, Ruby Jefferson of Henderson and Katie Collins of Dallas, three nieces, Debra Carr, Katrina Smith, Veronica Burist of Henderson and one nephew, Melvin Burist of Houston
