

In obedience to the Lord's command, an angel descended from heaven and arrived in Jonesboro, Louisiana on May 21, 1956 and blessed Mae Dora Campbell with a baby boy whom she named Richard Keith Williams. Richard was the second oldest child born to Mae Dora. He attended the public schools in Houston, Texas. Richard graduated from Kashmere Sr. High in 1975. Upon graduation he entered the U.S. Navy where he completed five world cruises. Upon his return from the U.S. Navy, Richard decided to become a "professional student"; he attended Houston Community College, Lone Star College, and Texas Southern University. In 2011, Richard graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. Richard gave his life to Christ under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Smith. In 1994, he joined the Zion Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. C.L. Punch. God moved on his heart and he accepted his calling into the ministry and attended seminary at New Light Christian Church. He later moved his family to Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L. Terry Jr., where he was an Associate Minister. Richard also attended Fallbrook Church under the leadership of Pastor M. Pender. In 2008, Richard and Debra knew God was calling them to move their family in another direction, the family moved to Crossover Bible Fellowship under the leadership of Pastor Blake Wilson where Richard remained an active member until the Lord called him home. Richard never met a stranger. He touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He was well known for opening his home to all, where you could always find a good meal and lots of conversation. He leaves to cherish his memories: his phenomenal wife of 26 years, Debra; three children, Unieka (Nathan) Smith, Jamaur Barnes, and Jamieson Williams; one grandson, Sekai Roman Smith; and mother-in-law, Mabel Goodwin. Six siblings, Derek (Pamela) Campbell, Varnessa Williams, Edwin Williams, Stacy Williams, and Ericka Williams. He also leaves three god daughters; Shania Foster, Kayla Washington, and Gabrielle Arvie, a dear niece and nephew, Kashia Moore and Christopher Carter. In addition, Richard leaves behind a large family of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lastly, an extended family to include Daisy Kyle and her children, Paris, Joshua, and Sydney.
