Robert Arnold Cooper

Robert was born to Bobby Gene Cooper and Sue LaVaughn Lanham on October 7, 1953, in Houston, Texas. He played football at C.E. King High School. His marriage to Pauline Durham blessed him with one child.

Robert is survived by his beloved son, Charles Edward Alexander Cooper (Melissia). He also leaves to cherish his memory three siblings: his sister and devoted caregiver, Lynellen Sanders (Gary); his sister, Constance Parrott (Robert); and his brother, Donald Cooper (Shelly).

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Meredith Sanders Hernandez (Mike) and their son, Connor; Laurel Sanders Erwin (Jarrod) and their children, Peyton and Dylan; Diana Parrott Buesing (Austin); Daniel Parrott (Caitlin) and their son, Frederick; Adam Parrott; Zachary Cooper (Lisa) and their son, Brayden; and his beloved goddaughter and niece, Hayden Cooper (Clayton), and her daughter, Emersyn Sweeney, and their son, Bridger Holland.

Robert was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Gene Cooper; his mother, Sue LaVaughn Lanham; his paternal grandparents, Theodore Wayne Cooper and Billie Jane Johnson; and his maternal grandparents, Clinton Lanham and Sarah Ellen Tucker.

Robert worked as a carpet layer for Cooper Brothers Carpet for two decades. Later, he enjoyed working outdoors as a land surveyor, sidestepping the occasional venomous snake and angry canine. He loved football and baseball and could recall statistics for most national teams, a talent passed down from his grandfather, “Granddaddy” Cooper. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf, often walking the course with his father and brother Don at Brock Park Golf Course near his parents’ home.

A gifted mathematician, Robert could quickly calculate specifications for carpet installation, land surveying, and later, woodcrafting projects. He lovingly created and gifted many handcrafted items to family members. He was also a fierce advocate for the care and protection of animals.

He leaves behind his cherished dogs, Buster and Doc, who already mourn his absence dearly.
