

On December 30th, 1929, an adorable, lovable baby boy was born to Jessie Lee Denson and Artelia Scott Denson in Evergreen, Texas. Robert attended Pumpkin Elementary School and Maynard Secondary School, located in Maynard, Texas. After confessing his faith in Christ at an early age, he united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Pumpkin, Texas. In 1948 Robert met Doris Tatum and from this union one child was born. Robert, along with his parents and siblings, relocated to Houston, Texas. Robert joined New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he continued his faith. After moving to Houston, he was drafted to the United States Army during the Korean War. He served from 1951 to 1953 where he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. During furlough, he married Alice Marie Lillie and from this union 4 children were born, nurtured and loved. The family resided in Los Angeles, California for many years. In Los Angeles, California he became a member at Faithful Central Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ferrell. Robert continued his education and received his high school diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School in Los Angeles, California. He later attended Metropolitan City College where he studied jurisprudence for two years. While attending classes at Metropolitan City College, Robert began working at the Sterling Transit Company located in Montebello, CA as a forklift operator. Robert continued to work as a dedicated employee for over 20 years. He was a devoted husband and loving father. After Robert and Alice divorced, he relocated to Houston in 1976. In Houston, Robert began to work at the Port of Houston as a longshoreman. During this time, Robert met and married Linda Hadnot in 1980. From this union two sons were born, nurtured and loved. He joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor F.D. Sampson, Sr. and continued to serve God by example. He was a devoted husband and loving father. Robert and Linda divorced in 1991. Robert retired early from International Longshoreman Association (ILA # 24) to care for his loving mother Ar-telia Scott Denson. Robert rejoined Lyons Unity Baptist Church (formerly known as New Pleasant Grove Bap-tist church) under the leadership of Reverend O.C. Johnson. During this time, he was a trustee and member of the men’s choir. Robert continued his faithful service under the leadership of Dr. William A. Jordan (Senior Pastor). In 1996, Robert met a special friend named Ms. Georgia Stribling. They enjoyed traveling, social events and talking about the Lord’s goodness. Robert truly enjoyed cooking his homemade chili, playing dominoes and had a profound and loving pas-sion for helping others. On his predestined date, September 10, 2018, he departed his earthly life peacefully to return home and join his father, Jessie Lee and his mother, Artelia Scott Denson, his ex-wife Alice Marie Denson, his brothers Arthisus Denson and Napoleon Denson, sister Dorothy Denson-Dodd, and daughter Darlean Denson-Yarbough. He leaves in Gods care his children: Rowena Starling, Rosa Lee Denson, Robin D. Denson Anacker (Charles), Carmencita V. Denson, Robert E. Denson II (Reta), Ramon Elan Denson and sister Mary Jewel Denson-Gunter, Ph.D., grandchildren: Maria J. Blake, Grady Coleman III, Amika R. Jemison, Mira A. Martin, Alicia Z. Denson, Robert C. Anacker, Ramiyah M. Denson, Raelynn E. Denson and Robert E. Denson III. great-grandchildren: Elijah Worthams, Joshua Worthams, Isaiah Worthams and host of relatives and friends
