Rosalind Gale Braxton entered this life on February 19, 1957, to the proud parents of Chester Braxton, Sr., and Annie Lee Davis-Braxton. She was the baby of eleven children born into the family. She was educated in the Liberty educational system and graduated with the “Born to Be Wild” Class of 1975. She furthered her education by attending Lee College, Houston Community College, Word Processing School, and Biblical College.
At an early age, Rosalind accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Rose Missionary Baptist Church in Liberty, Texas. She later joined First Outreach Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. John Richardson, Sr., in Houston, Texas, and served there for over fifteen years in various capacities, including usher, Mission, serving as the church secretary, and was part of many other outreach activities. In December of 2007, she relocated her membership and joined Time of Celebration Ministries Church, under the leadership of Elder Jerry Flowers, Sr. & Pastor Jacqueline T. Flowers, until her death. She devotedly served in Special Events, Greeters, and the Celebration Bookstore. She was indeed counted faithful in all circumstances, remaining steadfast even during illness and until death.
Rosalind was not only dedicated to God, her church, and her family. She was also a dedicated employee of Fluor Daniels. Rosalind utilized her creative ability to produce countless published documents throughout her career. She was a dedicated employee for over 35 years and was extremely loved by many of her co-workers.
Rosalind met Leary Medlow and exhibited to him the true characteristics of a virtuous woman. She won him over with her famous sock-it-to-me cake and they became inseparable at that moment. From their union, they were blessed to be the parents of four children. They enjoyed spending time together and taking family road trips.
“Dependable” and “Heart of a Servant” were terms to describe Rosalind to the core! She had a personality to brighten up a room no matter whose company she was in. She is remembered as a loyal friend to many, with a heart as big as Texas, larger than life itself. Her spirit was one that captured the attention of all she encountered. She loved attending family gatherings and was known to be the best hostess ever. She was highly supportive, whether administratively or physically, of every family life event, whether big or small, she was there. Rosalind has sown good seeds, impacted our lives, left an awe-inspiring legacy, and deeply embedded the imprint of her love in all our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Chester Braxton, Sr., and Annie Lee Braxton; brothers, Free Golia Bradley, Milton Cook, Roger Braxton, Sr., Lawrence Ray Braxton, Chester Braxton, Jr., and Marcella Braxton; sisters, Nellyne Jones, Bobby Bradley, and Audrey Lane.
