Ruben T. Almendarez

Just eight days shy of celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary, Ruben and his wife, Natalia Estrella, were married October 19, 1958 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church, where he was a faithful parishioner for over 80 years.

Ruben made a career in the jewelry industry and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching boxing, soccer, football and baseball. Go ‘stros!

He is survived by his wife, Natalia; their son, Jaime Almendarez; granddaughter Olivia Almendarez Gonzalez and husband Joseph Gonzalez; granddaughter Elena Almendarez Trevino and husband Guadalupe Trevino. He was preceded in death by their daughter Ernestina Almendarez Solinger and her husband Jay Solinger; his parents Vicente and Maria Trujillo Almendarez; siblings Alfonso, Vicente, Raul (Roy), Luis, Olivia (Delia), and Ines.

A visitation for Ruben will be held Monday, October 17, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7539 Ave K, Houston, Texas 77012. A committal service will occur Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
