Ruby Hays was a dedicated mother of five, grandmother, and great grandmother. She passed away on November 7, 2022 at the age of 88 in Houston, Texas. Ruby was born to Jewell and Benton Robberson in Beeville Texas. She worked as a dietary supervisor in a hospital most of her life.
Through the years, Ruby enjoyed spending time with family, visiting her sister in Victoria and cooking for her family. Ruby was lovingly known as “Mema” to family and friends. She loved to collect Coca-Cola memorabilia, visiting garage/estate sales on the weekends to see what treasures she could find. One of her favorite past times was watching Turner Movie classics and Westerns. Ruby was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in her life. Always witty and funny and loved to talk on the phone.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell; her parents, brother, and two children, Linda Ruzicka and Sandy Smith. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Kirby; children, Nancy Smith, Jamey and Lois Hays; and grandchildren, Elisha Ondrej and Travis Smith.
Memorial will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 1-3 p.m., the committal service to follow at 3pm at Earthman Resthaven, 13102 North Freeway, Houston 77060
