Sharon was a shining light in the lives of anyone who had the privilege to know her. Her journey on earth was marked by love, compassion, and faith in God. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all that knew her.
Sharon met the love of her life in high school by chance when another boy happened to have her school photo in his wallet. Luckily, Gene was at the water fountain that day and glanced down to see his future wife and life partner. He fell in love with her immediately and would go on to share an adventurous life together. They created many lasting memories as they traveled around the world, built a family, and retired together.
Sharon loved life but most of all she loved her family, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. You could always count on her to be there to listen, tell a great story, sing a silly song, play games for hours, and treat you to ice cream at two in the morning. Her tenacious and fun-loving personality was infectious and would brighten anyone’s day that was with her. A shining light was lost, but her presence has helped all of us grow.
Although Sharon’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.
Sharon is survived and missed by her devoted husband Eugene Marion Long of 67 years; and her children, Bryan Long, Kent Long, Tracy Whitfield and spouse Randy Whitfield. Forever cherished and remembered by her three grandchildren: Amber Brown spouse Justin Brown; Whitney Dillard spouse Allen Dillard; Kali Whitfield; grandchildren: Kayden Downs, Elijah Brown, and Justice Dillard; her brother Albert Nix spouse Margaret Nix; and her sister-in-law Judy Powell; nieces and nephews: Jerry Nix spouse Donna Nix, Terry Bradfield spouse Robbie Bradfield, Julie Boze spouse Kelly Boze, Judie Klovenski spouse Frank Klovenski, Stacey Berg spouse Joe Berg, and Jeffrey Beebe spouse Noel Beebe.
