

Sonja was born on Thursday, December 23, 1937, in Tyler. She attended Tyler schools and was a 1956 graduate of Tyler High School. Sonja was an employee of the Neiman-Marcus stores. She was a Christian and a member of the Tallowood Baptist Church in Houston.
Her husband, Arnold Heidt, as well as her parents, “Red” Brockman and LaNeil Brockman Schneider, preceded her in death.
Despite the severity of her illness, Sonja remained positive and upbeat until the end. She never complained. The attitude and dignity that she presented was an inspiration to all those around her.
Friends acknowledge with gratitude the loving care given to Sonja by caregivers, Howard and Joanna Penate, as well as the Altus Hospice in Houston.
Family and friends gathered at a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday May 9th at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston, where funeral services began at 9:30am on Friday, May 10th, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors. Dr. Duane Brooks of Tallowood Baptist Church officiated.
Sonja was laid to rest beside her husband, Arnold, following a graveside service at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 10th at Rose Hill Cemetery, 2400 S. Donnybrook in Tyler, Texas, 75702 (903) 531-1207.
In lieu of flowers, donations were requested in Sonja's name to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston or to the charity of one’s choice.
